Committees
The SEC is divided into 4 different committees: the Green Team, Communications Committee, Social Media Committee, and Research Committee. It is mandatory to join at least one committee! Each committee has a different role, which you can learn more about here:
Each committee also has their separate meetings, projects, and commitments, so joining multiple committees will increase the workload, but also increase your opportunities to meet new people, make an impact, and get hours!
Weekend Events
You can attend weekend events to learn, help your communities, and get hours! Weekend events can be in-person (suspended as of now) or virtual and vary from helping clean parks to learning about sustainable living! A minimum of 2 events is required to be a member, but for the 2021-2022 school year, this requirement has been lifted.

EARTH DAY FAIR
The Earth Day Fair is a celebration that the SEC holds every year in April around Earth Day. Each fair has a specific theme, so each year is excitingly different! Every SEC member contributes to making projects and showcasing them during the fair, so come and cheer on your friends! For information on past Earth Day Fairs, click here!

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What are the requirements to be a member?
Visit the Club Requirements page!
Q: How can you get hours?
A: There are many ways that a member can get hours! You can participate in activities that your committees are involved in, such as meetings and any projects. For example, you can get hours by helping making this website! You can also attend the Green Gatherings (formerly Work Parties) and Clubwide meetings held by the Cabinet! You can also do cafeteria duty, Environmental Olympics, weekend events, virtual escape rooms, and more.
Q: How and when are hours updated?
A: Hours spent in committees are updated all at once at the end of the year. Committees often have their own spreadsheet for more frequent updates (ask your committee director(s) if you are unsure). Virtual Event hours are updated two or three weeks after the event has taken place. These hours depend on who fills out the Feedback Forms and when the Event Leader sends out the event summary. Clubwide Meetings and Work Party hours are updated shortly after the meeting. These hours are updated at the end of the month at the latest. Olympic points are also updated at the end of the month and are inputted into the hours spreadsheet every semester. These hours are done by the secretaries. Here is the link to the Hours Spreadsheet.
Q: Can I join more than one committee?
Yes! You can join more than one committee, but you must join at least one to complete the membership requirement! Joining more committees increases your opportunities to get hours, but also increases the commitment!
Q: Will there be in-person events in the 2021-2022 school year?
A: There won't be for the fall term until further notice due to the rise in COVID-19 cases and the rise of new variants.
Q: Does SEC do anything over the summer?
A: Nope! The Secretaries will send bi-weekly emails with updates over the summer, and the Cabinet and Advisory Council are hard at work planning for the coming school year. Besides that, SEC doesn’t do much—events and meetings typically start after our interest meeting at the start of the school year, though sometimes we have a couple events during late August as well. If you’re looking for some environmental-related things to do, you can always check out our Opportunities Document!
Q: What is the best way to contact us?
A: Unfortunately, we are all very addicted to our notifications, so wherever you contact us, we will most likely answer. Emailing us at [email protected] is the best all-around way to contact us. You can email us about practically anything! You can also message us through Facebook Messenger!
Q: What if my question wasn't answered?
